The ‘Aliens’ have been working extremely hard. In the 3 months leading up to Christmas, they removed 2,665 self-seeding Sitka and Rhododendron from a huge 3,234.6 hectares. When combined with the work done by last year’s team, this leaves only 300 ha to cover before the whole of the Lake Vyrnwy reserve has been cleared. Well done to them all! The ditch blocking has also continued. Before Christmas 6.26 km had been blocked and 34.6 ha had been mown for firebreaks.
